Compiled by Makoto Kubota, his selection of the best Awa dance groups from Koenji and Tokushima who perform in the Awa Odori, the largest dance festival in Japan attracting some 1.3 million people every year. The Koenji version in Tokyo is the second largest with about 1.2 million estimated visitors.
