Product Description

This has been one of the most requested items of the last few years, even though it didn't exist! A vinyl of Tsunekichi Suzuki's first solo album from 2006. And finally here it is, a double album on 180g vinyl. As a CD we sold a few over the years, but then suddenly we started getting lots of orders about five years or so ago. It soon came to light that this was because the song 'Omoide' was the opening music to the Japanese drama, Shinya Shokudo', Midnight Diner which was being shown on Netflix, and seemed to be picked up on especially during lockdown times. Unfortunately Tsunekichi Suzuki passed away around this period, but knew about the success of this album around the world. We sold the CD regularly until stock dwindled to almost nothing a couple of years ago. We still sell the CD, but lots of people have asked us for Zeigo on vinyl. Expect stock to disappear quickly. It gained further attention when American musician Rhiannon Giddens performed a cover of Omoide during her live shows.

Tsunekichi Suzuki joined the group Cement Mixers as singer/guitarist in the 1980s who went on to record for a major label in 1990, and the following year joined Tsurereko Shachu as singer/accordion player. This is his first solo album originally released in 2006. On this album, Tsunekichi Suzuki (vocals, guitar, accordion) sings melancholic folk/blues accompanied by two musicians Kanji Nakao (clarinet, saxophone) and Takero Sekijima (tuba, recorder). Originally released on the wonderful Off-Note label.
