First album from Kahoru Nakamura on which she plays Gakubiwa, the biwa used in gagaku music. On this album Kahoru has composed the opening and closing tracks, but all others are her interpretations of classic, lost works. The pegs for the strings are low and small on the gakubiwa which distinguishes it from modern types such as Satsuma biwa and Chikuaen biwa. She first came across gagaku biwa in a perfomance of Bankaso, a piece of music that dates back to the eighth century. Kahoru is a member of the Reigakusha Gagaku Ensemble.
