Traditional Japanese Music Special Series - Kiyomoto, Tokiwazu, Shinnai

Kiyomoto is a shamisen style, half way between lyrical and narrative founded by Kiyomoto Enjudayu around 1815. Tokiwazu is another form of narrative shamisen music, often performed in kabuki. Shinnai was created in the late 18th century, it is usually lively and upbeat.
