Tamao Koike is known as a kind of legendary diva of technopop. A former model, in 1982 she came to the attention of Haruomi Hosono who signed her to his newly established Yen label, established by Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi, through Alfa Records. In 1983 she recorded her first single, Kagami no Naka no Ju Gatsu, written by YMO. The Yen label closed down before recording an album however. In the 1990s, Tamao released a mini album under the name Tamao Iijima, but was unheard from for a long time after that. In 2019, a seven inch single of Kagami no Naka no Ju Gatsu was released which sparked interest in her. This compilation is made with the cooperation of Tamao Koike, with all the rare Yen label releases, such as bonus tracks and instrumentals, and the original demo recording of Kagami no Naka no Ju Gatsu by YMO.
