Koume Akasaka, born in 1906 in Fukuoka, was a legendary Japanese singer of minyo, or folk songs. She trained and learnt her art as a geisha, made her recording debut in 1929 and reached her height of popularity in the 1940s. 20 tracks including her biggest hit Kuroda Bushi released in 1942. She died in 1992.
