Minoru Muraoka (1923- 2014) started playing shakuhachi as a teenager. By the 1950s, feeling constrained by the traditional music world, branched out into jazz scene that was popular at the time. Other shakuhachi players, such as Hozan Yamamoto, also began experimenting with jazz and other styles, but Muraoka almost exclusively performed in jazz, rock and other styles. Some of the original vinyl releases have become rare collectable items. Originally released December 1970. Muraoka plays hit enka songs of the day on shakuhachi.
