Back in 2003 and 2006, two volumes of Ryukyu Rare Groove CDs were released of Okinawan pop music from the 1960s and '70s. Mostly Okinawan traditional tunes mixed with Western elements, pop, funk and other styles. In 2025 these albums have been 'revisited' with tracks from the original albums as well as tracks not previously included, and released on vinyl for the first time as well as on CD. Fantastic stuff.
