Piri is the eight hole Korean double reed bamboo oboe used in both folk and classical court music. This album presents the sound of the piri in the sanjo style of music, in compositions by Seo Yong-Seok.Sanjo usually consists of an instrumental solo accompanied by drumming on the Janggu, an hourglass-shaped drum. Han Se-Hyun was immersed in the traditional music from birth, his mother, Nam Hae-Sung, is a well-known pansori vocalist and his father, Han Il-Sub, a player of the stringed instrument, the ajaeng.
