Product Description

Rakugo is the traditional Japanese art of storytelling. They are performed at vaudeville-type variety halls, called yose. Performed solo, the rakugoka sits on a raised platform, a koza, using only a paper fan and small cloth as props. Born in 1976, Senri Irifunetei was the last disciple of the master Ogibashi Irifunetei, and started performing in 1996. He has gained promotion in the rakugo world, and has become known for performing at schools, workshops, on the radio and other venues. This is part of a series of CDs recorded at the Kuroneko record store in Koenji, Tokyo.
