In 2013, it is 650 years since the birth of Zeami and 680 years since his father Kan'ami was born. Kan'ami founded the Kanze school, and was succeeded by his son Zeami. They are credited with bringing Noh to its present form during the Muromachi period. This is the first in a DVD series of classic performances broadcast by NHK of mastepieces written by Kan'ami and Zeami. It features both legendary actors from the past and fantastic performances by the leading contemporary actors.
