DVD set of monumental TV documentary series filmed for the celebration of the 70 year anniversary of the national broadcaster NHK. Furusato no Densho (Handing Down Japan) was broadcast from 1995 until 1999 and introduced the disappearing traditional cultures and customs rooted in each region of Japan from north to south in 124 special features. This DVD fetures Hokkaido and Tohoku with 20 features, (40 minutes each, total 800 minutes) on 4 DVDs. Prefectures covered are Hokkaido, Miyagi, Aomori, Iwate, Fukushima, Yamagata and Akita. Some of the towns featured in Tohoku, such as Kesennuma and Minami Sanriku were devastated by the Tsunami that hit the towns on March 11 2011. NTSC, Region Code 2, No subtitles, Japanese only.
