Product Description

This superb new album from Hana Kogure, feels like a culmination of her musical journey so far. A talented singer /songwriter and guitarist, she began writing songs aged 15. Her Japanese sensibilities in her music were enhanced with an interest in the music of Portugal. As well as recording and performing in Japan, she travelled to Europe and performed there, especially in Portugal. Along the way she met and collaborated with a variety of musicians, many of whom are featured on this album. In recent years she has developed a love of Portuguese fado, partly through working with Kazufumi Tsukimoto, fado afficiando and player of Portuguese guitar. Tsukimoto plays on this album, but other muscians help to add different colours to songs. Producer Masayo Nagata, who also pays keyboards, has worked with Koryu of Shang Shang Typhoon, Irish music and more, who produced her previous album, expands the tapestry of sounds through a deeper mutual understanding.

Other musicians include Takero Sekijima of Kuricoder Quarter and numerous other projects who plays multiple wind instruments, percussionist Mari Seikine known for her work with Shibusashirzu, and violinist Yuriko Mukajima, another musician whose playing has graced many albums. Hana Kogure's vocals resonate softly within this rich palette of sounds, evoking universal emotions of love, nostalgia and loss. A beautiful album with worldwide appeal.
