The man who would one day become a national treasure was born into a yakuza family. Kikuo, blessed with an otherworldly beautiful face, loses his father in a gang conflict and is taken in by Hanai Hanjiro, the head of a prestigious Kamigata kabuki family, where he enters the world of kabuki. There he meets Shunsuke, Hanjiro's biological son and heir, whose future has been guaranteed since birth. Though they inherit completely different bloodlines and differ in upbringing and talent, the two become rivals, pushing each other to greater heights while dedicating their youth to the art.
