Two styles of classic Indonesian musical theatre. Langen Mandra Wanara (Song of the Monkeys) is a dance drama based on a segment of the Hindu Ramayana epic. Langen Driyan (Diversion of the Heart) is performed by an all female cast illustrates the centuries old Hindu-Javanese legend of a royal battle. The gamelan is tuned in the pentatonic slendro system, unique to Java. Comes with English liner notes. Original release 1985
