Tracks 1-12 are by one of China's 'Seven Great Singing Stars'. Zhou Xian (Golden Voice) is possibly the best known of the seven, a megastar in 1940s Shanghai. These 12 tracks are her last commercial recordings, recorded in Hong Kong for Great Wall Records in 1950.
Tracks 13-22 are by Yao Lee, another of the seven stars. Like many of her contemporaries, Yao Lee fled to Hong Kong to continue her singing career. These 10 tracks are her earliest recordings made in 1950, the year she moved to Hong Kong, and also recorded for Great Wall Records.
