There's been a surprising number of Japan/Africa collaborations over the years, and a few of them have featured Okinawan musicians. These have often been one off tracks on albums, but this is a genuine collaboration that works beautifully with Senegalese kora player and singer Falaye Sakho. Most of the songs are Okinawan, with others cleverly combining Okinawan and Senegalese tunes, where both sing and play their respective instruments. Recorded in Senegal, with some added balafon and djembe, this is a surprisiing and delightful album if a little short at 38 minutes.
