Born in 1983, Saori Kawabata began singing her local Amami island folk songs from the age of nine. She soon entered competitions, as seems to be the usual progression for anyone who's any good, won a few and came third in the national minyo championships. This is her first album, of pure Amami shima uta. Vocals and sanshin.
