Product Description
Misaki Motofuji often plays the baritone saxophone, but is also a multi-instrumentalist who is adept at other saxophones such as tenor and alto, as well as the clarinet and flute. In concert, in addition to these instruments, he uses electronics, vocals, field recordings, and various effects and props to improvise and assemble structured performances. Motofuji performed this type of live performance at Ftarri in Tokyo in May 2022, and a CD was released in November of the same year (Yagateyamu), which received high praise and acclaim. Since then, he has continued to perform solo performances using a multi-instrument group intermittently, further deepening his performance and composition skills. Two albums have been released simultaneously that feature his solo performances at Ftarri in 2024. Evoke contains a live performance (38 minutes) from February 25, 2024.Motofuji used more instruments than usual, including flute, clarinet, soprano/alto/tenor/baritone saxophones, voice, lip noise, field recordings, electronics, effects, kalimba, and whistle, and incorporated the first movement of his own composition 'Institution Suite' into the performance, making this a very ambitious and fascinating work. This CD also includes a bonus track, a solo performance at Ftarri on December 31, 2023.
