Chang Jing is one of the current top players of the Chinese zheng, a zither that is the forerunner of Japanese koto, Korean Gayageum, Vietnamese Dan Tranh and other instruments. Her zheng is accompanied by xiao (bamboo flute), and even some elements of Chinese opera on her own compostions, arrangements and improvised pieces.
