The piece is based on the novel, A Women Called En, written by Tomie Ohara, published in 1960 and won many literary prizes.It tells the story of a girl in 17th century Japan, forced to live in confinement with her family after her father lost political power. Ohara identified with En, held as a political prisoner for forty years, as she was hospitalized for many years from a young age for tuberculosis. 20 tracks, 44 mins.
