Ippei Yamanaka was born on the east side of Osaka, an area called Kawachi, both an agricultural and industrial district. The local summer Bon Odori music is called Kawachi Ondo, and Ippei was a singer of this type of song from a young age. One of the songs he sung was called Raiden, featured on this album. Ippei became a monk for twelve years, returning as a Kawachi Ondo singer in 1992. Osaka is also know for its soul music, blues and funk and Ippei combined these types of music with Kawachi Ondo on various albums and live shows, including on this latest album.
