Camelia Malik (born 1955) is another of the great dangdut singers, in the same vain as Elvy Sukaesih or Rhoma Irama. She made her first album in 1979 and still today is a popular singer. This album combines dangdut with Melayu, Latin and Indian influences.

Rhoma Irama is the king of dangdut, an onomatopoeic word coined in the late 60s, based on the sound of the kendang, a drum similar to the Indian tabla. Dangdut shares some similarities to Indian film music with added Arabic and western elements. Born in 1946 in Sunda, Rhoma Irama became the undisputed king of dangdut, establishing it as a nationally popular genre of music. This album is mostly of recordings he made in the 1980s.
