Ajate was formed by John Imaeda, who recoginized that African like elements were flowing through Japanese music after studying in Ghana and Burkina Faso. Taiko drums in the style of Edo festival music and bass and guitar reminiscent of Nigeria's Afrobeat create the groove, together with shinobue flutes creating an infectious dance music. They have gone on to perform around the world at some of the most prestigious festivals. This is their first full album for four years.
