Bird Tongchai is one of Thailand's top male singers, whose career looked like it was going through the doldrums until this huge selling album. Features an extended version of the hit Fan Ja, that features Jintara Poonlarp and combines disco dance beats with lukthung.
Second album from the much vaunted Futon, comprised of Thai, Japanese and British members. Their music is a blend of glam disco, electronic 80s synthesized pop, punk, techno and Brit pop (if that's possible). They also write some pretty catchy tunes, while singer Gene Futon can sound like Bryan Ferry, so its all very accessible. This is the Japanese edition of the CD. Price: £15.99
China Dolls are one of Thailand's biggest pop acts. The female duo, Hwa Hwa and Bell were formed in 1999 and their albums now sell over 1.5 million. They have also been wooing fans in the rest of south east Asia. Their latest album has all the usual hook a minute, vivacious tunes that has made them stars. Some Thai and Chinese elements and all very good fun. Had a track on the Rough Guide to the Music of Thailand CD.
Compilation of some of Thailand's top pop singers all from the Grammy record label. Includes Palmy, Maf, Brionny and Nat Myria. Price: £16.99
Seko Loso is one of Thailand's biggest rock stars. The son of migrant workers, he reputedly found a guitar in the rubbish bin while working in a child sweat shop. After playing everyone else's songs, he started to write his own, his first selling 1.5 million copies. He has gone on to sell over 20 million CDs, and in recent years relocated to London, where he is attempting to sing in English with a British backing band. This is a collection of his biggest Thai hits.
