Thuong Tham Vol.14
Born in 1976 Dan Truong is one of Vietnam's biggest stars, both as a singer and actor. In 1996 he was propelled to stardom after winning the "Good Voice Competition". His fame has since spread to other countries in south-east Asia including Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan. Essentially a pop singer, nevertheless this album possesses some strong Vietnamese flavors with dan-bao (monochord), dan-tranh (zither) and other traditional instruments over the synthesizers and western instruments. Dan Truong himself sings in a distinctly Vietnamese style, while guest vocalists include Cam Ly and Huong Lan. High quality production and one of the best recent Vietnamese contemporary pop albums.
Em Gai Que
Cam Ly was born to be a star, being the daughter of writer Nguyen Ngoc Ngan and legendary singer Khanh Ly. She is now one of Vietnam's most popular singers. She has a wonderful voice, quintessentially Vietnamese, her music peppered throughout with Vietnamese instrumentation. High quality production and packaging. A sort of more pop version of Paris based Vietnamese singer Huong Thanh.

CAM LY & QUOC DAI
Lau Dai Tinh Ai
Good album of Vietnamese folk pop from two of the biggest stars, who even sing together a few times on this one. Big production with programmed drum beats behind soft Vietnamese instrumentation, typical Vietnamese melodies, rather over slushy and sentimental but then it's meant to be.

Tu Tinh Ly Cay Bong
Good CD of contemporary Vietnamese folk pop. Plenty of Vietnamese instrumentation along with the keyboards and drums with some wonderful male and female singing performances. Ballads and up-tempo tunes.
