She hasn't been around that long, yet Rimi Natsukawa already qualifies for a first Best of. Rimi is an excellent singer who has been amazingly popular with her renditions of Okinawan style ballads. Most popular of all was the million selling 'Nada Sou Sou' written by Begin. She doesn't sing in a particularly Okinawan style at all, but her voice is usually accompanied by sanshin and overall the songs have a strong Okinawan flavour to them. This album features her seven singles so far, including 'Nada Sou Sou,' 'Warabi Gami' (originally sung by ex-Nenes Misako Koja) and 'Kana Yo Kana Yo' penned by Kazufumi Miyazawa. Included are the seven 'B' sides to those singles.

Okinawan punk band Mongol 800 caused a sensation a few years ago when their album Message sold an unprecendented 2 million copies, despite the record being on an indie label and receiving very little media exposure. Mongol 800 became a word of mouth phenomenon. They paved the way for other Okinawan indie groups such as HY, and still continue to release outstanding records. Their latest effort has 13 tracks, and is up to their usual standard of high energy melodious punk.
