Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is the first feature film from 1984, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. A seaside kingdom, the Valley of the Wind, is one of a few areas still populated 1000 years following a global war. Under Princess Nausicaa, the people of the Valley struggle against powerful insects called ohm, guarding a poisonous jungle. Nausicaa and her companions resolve to restore the bond between humanity and nature.

Laputa - Castle in the Sky

Hayao Miyazaki and The Ghibli Museum
Director Isao Takahata, a mentor to Hayao Miyazaki gives us insights into Miyazakis creative genius by taking us on a tour of the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo, designed by Miyazaki himself. The museum is a fantasy world, and we see the interior and aerial views of the museum. In addition, there are vistas of Genoa and the medieval mountain cities of Italy that influenced Miyazaki when he visited them. This film is an excellent way to gain a greater appreciation of Miyazakis works.

The name Seiji Amasawa is on the loan cards of almost every book she reads and finally she meets him, a boy determined to go to Italy to study under a violin maker after he graduates from middle school. Influenced by Seiji she starts to write a story about a Baron and the statue of a cat in the antique shop run by Seijis grandfather, and embarks on a fantastic journey of the imagination.
