Jintara is still one of Thailand's most famous singers and it's easy to hear why she has endured. Her voice drips with emotion, in a style somewhere between morlam and lukthung. Nice mix of tunes, both slow and upbeat, and a few straight pop tunes. One of Asia's great female singers.

Recently popular morlam singer. Synthesisers blend with phin (stringed instrument) khaen (bamboo mouth organ) over incessent rhythms. This album of 12 songs is mostly mid-tempo and a nice blend of modern and traditional, with more western influences than other morlam singers.

Similar to volume 1 above, but probably with more of a western pop feel. Hanee has a piercing and powerful voice, and looks set to become an established star of

the genre.

Pop/morlam by a veteran singer. Some tracks have that harder edge she seems to revel in, although on others a more western pop feel takes over. Just about any album by Barnyen however is worth hearing.

Rather wonderful morlam/lukthung compilation album. Artists include Charlempon Marlakam, Wypot and Damtitakon.A pretty good place to explore morlam, although the selection is fairly conservative.

A buddhist monk who sings morlam by the look of it, except this hasn't got much to do with zen. Instead danceable, powerful and at times rather odd. Wonder what they make of it back at the temple.
